Description: The Bend Spay+Neuter Project is seeking a part time associate surgeon for 2 days/week including monthly feral cat clinics. There are also opportunities to participate in MASH clinics at the Warm Springs Reservation. High volume experience is preferred with ability perform between 30-35 spay and neuter surgeries per day, excellent surgical and communication skills, and passion for ending overpopulation. Must have or apply for Oregon license to practice veterinary medicine.

Specific job duties include:

• Performing pre-operative exam on all patients prior to surgery
• Safely performing between 30-35 spay/neuter surgeries on cats and dogs daily in accordance with BSNP policies and procedures
• Assist with post-operative care ensuring all patients recover completely
• Maintaining proper written records
• Communicating as needed with staff and clients in a professional and compassionate manner
• Communicate with receptionist and clients about any complications or abnormalities following surgical procedures
• Oversee medical staff on surgery days alerting Medical Director of any issues/concerns with clients, patients, volunteers and staff
• Ability to safely operate anesthetic machines, oxygen equipment, and patient monitoring equipment
• Administer vaccinations and microchips as needed to surgical patients
• Follow protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and prevention of disease spread
• See appointments for surgical rechecks in accordance with BSNP policies and procedures
• Provide additional medical care to feral cats as needed including treating abscesses, URIs, enucleation etc
• Lead once monthly feral cat clinics including working with other veterinarians and leading medical team and volunteers to safely spay/neuter approximately 70-80 feral cats
