Humane Alliance: A Program of the ASPCA

Description

Description: Impactful Leadership Opportunity
The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is becoming a proactive animal welfare leader in the Coastal Georgia region. In 2016 we welcomed a new CEO and Director of Shelter Operations, opened Pet Fix Savannah and created a 3-5 year strategic plan. It’s an exciting time to be at HSGS!
An essential element of our transformation is a Staff Veterinarian. This is a new role at HSGS and we are looking for someone who is excited about shelter medicine in all its variations (spay/neuter, public clinics, intake diversion, and sheltering) and who can grow their leadership and veterinary skills as HSGS transforms. This role would be especially appropriate for a vet early in their shelter medicine career. Mentorship will be provided by an experienced shelter veterinarian as well as the CEO.
About the Humane Society for Greater Savannah
Our mission is to better the lives of pets and people. Statistically speaking, in 2016 our impact was:
 2213 pets placed in new homes
 13000 volunteer hours
 4461 spay/neuter surgeries
 595 pets transferred from Chatham County Animal Services
 86 dogs were treated for heartworm

We employ 35 people and currently have a budget of $1.8 million. We are governed by a dedicated board of directors who are committed to our strategic vision and improving the quality of life in our community by honoring the human-animal bond.
Additionally, we are at the nexus of a coalition in Coastal Georgia to save more lives in our rural municipal shelters. Partnerships are being developed for shared spay/neuter services, public safety net, community cat efforts and transport programs.
HSGS is striving to be a great place to work. We participate in the Gallup Employee Engagement Survey and are focused on developing engaged team members who provide compassionate non-judgmental service to everyone we serve.
About the City of Savannah
Savannah is a beautiful place to live. Its numerous city parks and historic architecture attract visitors from all over. There is a vibrant arts and music scene thanks, in part, to the Savannah College of Art and Design. The summers do get hot, but coastal beaches are a short 20-minute drive!
